Our church will host The Ron Comfort Evangelistic Team for a revival crusade June 3 – 8. Sunday services will be at the regular time at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Services Monday through Friday begin at 7 p.m.
The six-day crusade will be open to friends, family members and the public.
The evangelistic team has traveled extensively throughout the United States and many foreign countries presenting the Gospel in message and in song. The music ministry includes both vocal and instrumental numbers using trombone, euphonium, piano, and accordion. A volunteer choir under the direction of Dr. Larry Brubaker will sing nightly.
Dr. Comfort’s messages through the years have been characterized by his careful and powerful use of Scripture. He has preached at more than 1400 crusades since graduating from Bob Jones University in 1961.
He was given an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Maranatha Baptist Bible College in 1973. He was also honored for outstanding work in evangelism by Bob Jones University alumni.
He is the founder and chancellor of Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, North Carolina, a four-year Bible college. The college was founded in 1989 to train men and women for full time Christian service. The college is known as an old-fashioned, preacher-training Bible college.
Originally from Elmira, NY, Dr. Comfort was saved at the age of 15. He worked his way through Bob Jones Academy and University and went immediately into evangelism after graduating.
Dr. and Mrs. Joyce Comfort have been married since 1963. They have three daughters and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Comfort serves in the music ministry and works with Mrs. Brubaker in the children’s classes.
Child care is provided during each service and there will also be a story time for children age 4 through grade 3. Mrs. Comfort and Mrs. Brubaker conduct these special story hours beginning Sunday evening and continuing each evening throughout the week of the crusade.
The children are taught a Bible lesson, a missionary challenge and many new songs in each session. Children sit with their parents during the musical portion of the main service and are then dismissed to their classes.
Dr. and LaVanda Brubaker joined the evangelistic team in 1976. Dr. Brubaker directs a volunteer choir, leads the congregational singing and coordinates special crusade music.
Dr. Brubaker is a native of Freeport, Il and a graduate of Pillsbury Baptist Bible College. He was honored with a Doctor of Music degree in 1984 from Maranatha Baptist Bible College.
Mrs. Brubaker accompanies her husband on the piano and works with the children in the nightly meetings.
A different theme at each evening service will be aimed at drawing more people from the community.
Tuesday night will be friend night where church members will be encouraged to bring an unsaved friend with them. Throughout the week they will pray for this friend’s salvation.
Wednesday night will be family night and everyone will be asked to invite members of their families.
Thursday will be patriotic night when the church will invite public servants and elected officials from the Frederick community. The message from Dr. Comfort will be “What’s Ahead for America”.
On Friday a prophecy night is planned.
