A student must reach the grade-appropriate age for the class he is entering no later than September 30 of the school year.  For example, a student desiring to enter the five-year-old kindergarten program must turn 5 by September 30 of that school year.  Starting in first grade, an exception may be made if the student is transferring into that grade from another school.
