How is discipline administered in the preschool and elementary school? |
As a Christian school, we believe that it is our task to aid parents in molding Christ-centered behavior patterns. While we do not expect students to be perfect, we will use discipline to encourage children to conform to school standards. Our goal is to always point students to the importance of obeying and pleasing Christ, even through our discipline system.
In the preschool and elementary ministries, classroom teachers will create a discipline system appropriate for their grade levels and will communicate that system to the parents of their students. Teachers may assign time-outs or other age-appropriate consequences. If the classroom problem continues in spite of those corrective actions, the teacher will first inform the parents via e-mail, phone call, or note home. The parents are encouraged to meet with the classroom teacher to discuss remedial solutions. If the behavior problem remains unsolved, the elementary principal will schedule a conference with the parents. Although very rare, in some cases where the behavior does not change or is severe, the student may be suspended or expelled after a conference with the school administrator.
